加州一号公路是美国著名的自驾路线。位于加利福尼亚州西部。南起点位于桔城附近DanaPoint的5号洲际公路，北起点位于美国101高速公路门多西诺城附近。这条公路因为沿西海岸线延伸，有非常好的海岸风景而著名。17英里风景区位于蒙特利尔（Monterey）。风光明媚的蒙特利半岛被称为世界上陆地、海洋、蓝天的集大成者，并被公认为理想的度假胜地。而17英里则是其中的精华。碧海蓝天、鲜花礁石、随处可见松鼠、海鸟和海豹、悬崖峭壁、古老的的松柏、构成了17英里迷人的画卷。这个被号称为世界上最美丽的17英里海岸线的地方实际上却是私人产业，1880年，雅致的德尔蒙特旅馆（Hotel Del Monte）开业，它给旅客提供的马车行驶在一条17英里长、风景优美的碎石路上，这条路环绕着蒙特利半岛，并通向德尔蒙特森林。今天，“17英里路”仍然保留了它在美国最为迷人的景色，除了碧海蓝天之外，这里还有让伍兹一举成名的，世界排名第一的pebble beach Golf球场及各具风情的豪宅。
17哩海滩一共有21个景点，比较有名的两个景点一个是“孤柏（thelone cypress）”。顾名思义，就是一棵柏树，孤零零的生长在一块突入太平洋的礁石上。任尔风吹浪打，我自岿然不动，顽强的度过250载！如果猛然一看，那仅是一棵不起眼儿的柏树而已。娇小的身躯从树干到礁石都还可以看到人工加固的痕迹。但细思量，常识会告诉我们它生长的环境有多恶劣。且不说“根”怎样才能深深地扎在坚硬的岩石上，只说那孤身暴露在大洋环绕之中的树干，抵御那250余冬去春来的海风，海啸，热带风暴，得需要多么强劲的体魄，多么坚韧的勇气和力量啊！都说“木秀于林，风必摧之”，更何况“木秀于洋”乎！想到这儿你就不得不对这棵小树肃然起敬。难怪这棵“孤柏”成为这个风景区，抑或是加州，甚至是美国的著名地标。
有趣的是离此处不远的另一风景点“鬼树（The Ghost tree）”更佐证了“孤柏”生命的价值。“鬼树”的名称是非常形象的。那是横七竖八纠结在一起的几棵“死”树。不知它们是遭了雷劈还是遭了飓风，至今仍保留着那遭到巨创后的惨状。给人印象特别深刻的是它们的颜色。树的表面经海风和日晒的“漂白”呈现出惨白色,而树身上的裂隙**出树干内部组织又像炭化般的黑。树的表面看上去凸凹不平,惨白的树皮与黑色裂隙阴影形成强烈的对比，给人以不祥之感。
